The Moon occurrence is located north west of Balsam Creek at an elevation of approximately 1140 metres.

The area is underlain by Upper Triassic Vancouver Group, Karmutsen Formation volcanics. These are overlain to the east by Upper Cretaceous Nanaimo Group sediments.

Locally, an amygdaloidal basalt breccia with a chloritic matrix contains patches of calcite, quartz and a greenish mineral, possibly prehnite. A composite grab sample (M-2) taken over a 10 square metre area assayed 16.70 grams per tonne gold and 17.2 grams per tonne silver (Assessment Report 17981).

During 1984 through 1987, R.A. Neill completed exploration programs including a ground self potential survey, prospecting, rock and soil sampling and five drill holes, totalling 216.6 metres, on the area as the Moon claims. The drilling was completed at the head of Chute Creek to a depth of 153 metres with only Cretaceous Nanaimo Group sediments being intersected (Assessment Report 16686).
